Fevers
My question is: Why would you want to silence nature's way of fighting off organisms? Fevers are GOOD to have. It means your immune system is working. Here are the advantages of Fevers..
The body raises its temperature to kill off any weak organisms
As the temperature reaches a certain point, chemicals are released into your system that stimulate the formation of White Blood Cells (An integral part of your immune system). Again I ask, why silence the fever?
Convulsions may occur and it may seem scary. When there is a rapid rise in body temperature, this symptom may occur. It is your body's way of releasing the heat, so it does not cause problems.
If you lower the fever artificially, it is giving the organism a better chance of survival, but enhancing its living conditions. If they survive, they become much stronger. (Bacteria and Viruses are simple organisms, and they adapt to change easily and quickly)
Of course, you want to monitor the fever very carefully. Injury can occur at 107 degrees, and anything over 103.5 degrees should be monitored by a pediatrician.

There are instances where your child could suffer from what is call Fever of Unknown Origin. At this point you may want to take your child to a Chiropractor to check the child for Subluxations and nerve interference that may be causing it.

Regulating Blood Pressure Naturally
Here are some tips to lower your blood pressure:
Exercise can help you lose weight (which then decreases blood pressure), but also increases circulation. If you exercise you are 34% less likely to develop high blood pressure than a couch potato.
Don't Stress. The adrenal hormones released when you are under stress automatically raise blood pressure, so if you are chronically stressed you may have chronic hypertension.
Keep your sodium intake to 2,000-3,000 mg per day.
Eat foods high in potassium, such as bananas, apples, avacados, lima beans (yum), oranges, and potatoes.
Cutting way back on sugar and refined carbohydrates may be as important as cutting down the salt. Sugar increases causes sodium retention, and therefore raises blood pressure
The best Cure-All. Believe it or not, drinking plenty of clean water is the best way to lower blood pressure. Depending on your body size, you should be drinking 6-10 glasses of water per day.

What controls these amazing functions? Your NERVOUS SYSTEM. Gray's Anatomy states that the function of the Nervous System is to control and to coordinate all the functions of the body. What would happen if the Nervous System was not working at 100%? Would it be able to control the important functions at 100%, and if not, would you be 100% healthy.
Vertebral Subluxations (Chiropractors' version of a spinal cavity), affect how the Nervous System works. Countless studies show that there is an adverse affect on the Nervous System and on total health, when there is a Vertebral Subluxation.
The goal of the Chiropractor is to find and remove Vertebral Subluxations (via the adjustment), and any other limiting factors upon the Nervous System.

Headaches
Headaches affect just about everyone at some point and can present themselves in many different ways. Headache pain may concentrate in one part of the head or behind the eyes, or it may become a pounding sensation inside the whole head; it may be accompanied by nausea, or it may not. The pain itself may be dull or sharp, and it may last anywhere from a few minutes to a few days. Fortunately, very few headaches have serious underlying causes, but those that do require urgent medical attention.
Although headaches can be due to a wide variety of causes such as drug reactions, TMJ dysfunction, tightness in the neck muscles, low blood sugar, high blood pressure, spinal misalignments, stress, fatigue, the majority of recurrent headaches are of two types; tension headaches (also called cervicogenic headaches) and migraine headaches. There is a third, less common, type of headache called a cluster headache that is similar to a migraine.
The chiropractic approach to headaches; first you evaluate the history of the headaches. What is the frequency? Duration? Intensity? What do you do at work? Secondly, we evaluate any potential misalignments or spinal dysfunction. We do this through joint motion, range of motion studies, and orthopedic testing. We can also evaluate diet. Is there something lacking in your diet? Or do you have an intake of a food or drink that is worsening the pain.

Here are some scary facts about aspartame, also known as Nutrasweet, which is found in all the diet drinks. The truth about aspartame is scary. As a country full of fads that are geared toward losing weight or staying thin, we tend to look past any possible long-term side effects of life style and go for any quick fix or some way to cheat nature.
· When the temperature of Aspartame exceeds 86° F, the wood alcohol in Aspartame converts to formaldehyde and then to formic acid, which in turn causes metabolic acidosis. The methanol toxicity mimics multiple sclerosis; thus people were being diagnosed with having multiple sclerosis in error.
· In the case of systemic Lupus, we are finding it has become almost as rampant as multiple sclerosis, especially in Diet Coke and Diet Pepsi drinkers. Also, with methanol toxicity, the victims usually drank three to four 12-ounce cans per day.

· Common symptoms that accompany Aspartame users; fibromyalgia symptoms, spasms, shooting pains, numbness in your legs, cramps, vertigo, dizziness, headaches, tinnitis (ringing in the ears), joint pain, depression, anxiety attacks, slurred speech, blurred vision, or memory loss. Is “Just one Calorie!” worth it?
· DO YOU WANT FORMALDEHYDE IN YOUR SYSTEM? Aspartame converts to Formaldehyde in the retina of the eye, and in many cases causing impaired vision. Formaldehyde is grouped in the same class of drugs as cyanide and arsenic. Deadly poisons.
· IT IS NOT A DIET PRODUCT. Aspartame makes you crave carbohydrates, and will in turn increase the fat in the body. In one case, a doctor took Aspartame products from the patients’ diet and they subsequently lost an average of 19 pounds.
Please take this information very seriously. Understand that many products on the market may not be healthy for us. Aspartame is not a substance that should be poisoning our bodies.

After reading this in Wayne Dyer's book , Wisdom of the Ages, I figured it a great way to begin a Wellness Weekly. There is a definite difference between "believing" and "KNOWING." For example, I can believe all I want that I won't fall to the ground if I jumped off the top of a building, but it won't overcome the fact that I KNOW about gravity.
In health care today, our society is being pushed off the side of the building, and we are being told that we will be fine. We are told by commercials, medical doctors, and even the people who care about us the most, that our body is weak and that when we come across challenges we need to take a pill or potion or cut our the problem. Remember, If one billion people believe in a bad idea, it is still a bad idea.

Have you heard of Autogenic Relaxation?
“Autogenic” means something that comes from within you. During this type of relaxation, you repeat words or suggestions in your mind to help you relax and reduce the tension in your muscles. Find a peaceful place where you will be free of interruptions. The follow the following steps;
Choose a focus word, phrase, or image you will find relaxing. This is called a mantra.
Sit quietly in a comfortable position and close your eyes.
Breathe slowly and naturally, focusing on your mantra
Continue for 10-20 minutes. If your mind wanders, that is ok. Gently return your focus to your breathing and the word, phrase, and image you selected.
The Economic Cost of Stress
Idea: Sitting in front of the computer much? Meetings increase your stress levels? Here is a simple tool that for those who utilize it, benefit greatly. Take a walk. Get out of your office and walk around your building or up and down your stairs. This is great for many reasons;
1) Walking gets you out of your chair, which is known to cause vertebral subluxations which cause things such as neck and back pain, headaches, numbness/tingling, etc.
2) You will have an increase of oxygen to your body which can revitalize your energy and make you think clearer.
3) You force the “emotional stress” energy out of your small muscles (which cause tension in the neck and shoulders, and possibly headaches) and into the big muscles of your body (legs and arms)
4) Walking can potentially reduce the amount of cortisol produce in your body. This can help in many ways; to name a few 1) lower the amount of the accumulation of fat storing enzymes in the body and 2) can reduce your chance of bone loss/osteoporosis.
